Keep your home clean and your family protected from germs with these cleaning tips:

Clean surfaces that are commonly touched

Frequently used surfaces that you should clean often are tabletops, taps, door handles, sinks, and handrails, to name a few. These surfaces carry a lot of germs and bacteria so they should be cleaned daily using a highly effective agent like bleach.

Wash your hands thoroughly

You’ve probably heard this a million times and you’ll hear it a million more. This is because we use our hands often and they pick up a lot of germs, so it’s essential that you wash your hands to prevent spreading germs around the house. Wash them for at least 20 seconds with an antibacterial soap to wash off dirt and bacteria.

Here are some of the most critical times to wash your hands:

  • After using the bathroom.

  • Before preparing or eating food.

  • After cleaning the house.

  • After coughing or blowing your nose.

  • When you arrive home after going outdoors.

Wash your bedding regularly

We spend a lot of time in our bedrooms, so it comes as no surprise that it’s a place where germs would accumulate. Wash your bedding materials once a week in hot water and washing powder to kill germs and bacteria.

Clean cell phones, tech devices and toys regularly

We can all agree that these items are touched quite often, so they need to be cleaned regularly. To clean your phone, tablet, laptop or mouse, make use of a disinfectant wipe or sanitising solution that contains at least 60% of alcohol.

Plastic toys with no batteries can be washed in the sink with dishwashing liquid, a clean sponge and warm water. Stuffed animals can be machine washed on a delicate cycle and washed by hand using Sunlight Germiguard green bar soap.

Separate cutting boards

Raw meat may contain bacteria such as Salmonella and even though it’s eliminated in meat once it’s cooked – bacteria can still survive on the cutting board. So, it is essential that you use a separate board for raw meats and you thoroughly clean it after every use to eliminate germs and bacteria. Wash your cutting board with the new Sunlight Extra Anti-Bacterial Dishwashing liquid which cuts through grease and kills up to 99.9% of germs.
